An Update on our Cupcake

img_1038We have been through quite a number of doctors appointments for Christina over the last month or so. We’ve seen almost every pediatric specialist know to man. I didn’t even realize there were pediatric cardiologists, ophthalmologists, and ENT’s. But we’re thankful we live in an era where God graciously provides for us all of these wonderfully trained people.

We’ve been establishing a base line on Christina’s overall health in an anticipation for her surgeries. She has a bit of a heart murmur that we hope goes away, but we will need to monitor it. Her breathing through her nose is labored because of restrictions in her mid-face. Her eyesight is okay right now but again, these are things that will have to be monitored.

She’s a little behind her brother with things like talking to us and smiling, but she does interact with us a great deal. She’s growing well but too, we’re starting to see her disability more and more.
We’re anticipating her first surgery (an initial hand surgery to release the thumb and pinky finger) when she’s approximately 6-7 months. Pray that she continues to grow strong and will be ready for that, and her many surgeries to come.
We’ve also been talking to our doctors about early intervention where someone would work with her on occupational and physical therapy.
Complicating this is the recent loss of our job. We’re trusting the Lord to continue to meet Christina’s needs, and consider possibly relocating to find work, which will mean finding new doctors.
Continue to pray for us, and especially little Christina, as we continue to love her and help her!
